View From the Outside

Most people I know are not in relationships with chefs yet their reactions to my husband's career is humorous to say the very least.

Does my husband make his own "sauce"? Nope. I'll be honest and say my man uses sauce out of a jar. When he does have time to make sauce from scratch we won't be anywhere near the kitchen. (yee-ah Roy)

Do I cook for my husband? Why wouldn't I? I'm not scared of what he'll say about my cooking. I don't expect him to be able to explain to an eight year old how to "borrow and carry over"

Do we watch the Food Network? Sure we do, I'm all over Unwrapped. But NO my husband does NOT find inspiration from the Food Network.

Have you ever been asked questions that get you a little annoyed? Let me know!

This one may belong in the previous post, but it might annoy you as well so here goes:

Would it work for you and your boss to work Saturday and have off on Monday when he is just starting his work week?

Just a thought..

Passion that would be an ideal situation and I appreciate the help. However, I'm a teacher so my schedule is set in stone. bummer.

I get this every time: "Wow! A chef! Does he cook at home?"

I think that the most annoying one is when people ask "So when do I get to sample his food?"

I'll agree with Nicole. The most annoying comment is "you must have such great food at home!" Yeah, like he's ever home to cook for me! I live on mac & cheese out of a box and frozen veggie burgers thank you very much :)

People always tell me I'm so lucky to have a chef at home....but what they don't know is that MY chef is NEVER home.

Lili-If I could sew, what you just said would be stiched on a pillow.

"does he try out new recipes on you?"

When? At home? When he's home? IF he's home? And IF he's cooking? For me? Pleeeeeeease.

I hate:

"Wow, your husband is a chef? When can we come over for dinner?"

We've lived in this town for 4 years and the only invites we've had to someone's house for dinner is from my in-laws!

I just found this blog and I love it! I don't know any other girls that date people in the restaurant industry so my friends don't completely understand my life. Every single person oohs and aahs when they find out my man cooks for a living. The always ask about the meals he makes for me. I laugh and tell them that out of the 2.5 years we've been together, he's cooked twice for me. They don't get it! I guess I'm supposed to keep my man a secret but I have to admit that works at one of the restaurants listed in the "dining and whining" section :) I'm so happy I stumbled upon this blog!

I absolutely agree with everything already stated! My chef only cooked for me during the "courtship phase," when he knocked my socks off for one week in a ski lodge. Also, I hate, "So what does he cook?" For crying out loud, I am so sick of this question. I am tempted to say, "Dirty sock soup is his signature dish."

"Dirty Sock Soup" I love it!
I also get pissed off when they ask if we like eating at Emeril's places...uh, NO. Food Network chefs aren't all real chefs. PAH-LEEZ

i absolutely agree with what was previously stated... my chef only cooked for me when he was trying to woo me with food. and it worked. he doesn't even try anymore...
