It seems that there is an unspoken rule in the chefwife world-the Sunday Rule. With my chef working so much during the week and the better half of the weekend, Sundays are sacred. I never make plans with anyone but my chef on Sundays or Mondays. I'm never available for haircuts, meetings, or parties on those days. Never. I spend my whole week wishing my chef were home more and that wishing certainly isn't wasted. I know I'm not the only one because when my chefwife pal, J and I try to make plans we always skip over Sundays. We never have to say why, but we know. And we don't even call each other on Sundays. That last goodbye squeeze late Saturday night is like a final farewell until the next Saturday. The invisible "do not disturb" sign is hung. It's chef time now.

I knew that our relationship was getting serious when he said, "Your Sundays are mine now."
I agree. My chef and I always spend Sundays together. To be honest, I get a little miffed if he makes plans that day -- even if it happens to be the only day he has off that week.
Sundays are my favorite day of the week, the day I get to spend with my Chef. Sometimes, we will have to fit in a family dinner, but all in all Sundays are our day together. He tells me when it is has been a hard week all he can think about is Sunday together! I try to think of fun things to do on Sunday, but sometimes just being together is all we need!

I don't know if it's a Canuck thing but my chef has a Sunday off maybe twice a year. Lucky ladies! I get random days and have to change the entire schedule.
Somehow, Seamus scored Fridays & Saturdays off at his last job, but he was always the first one to have to switch days off if there was something important going on!!!
Gotta love those days off though, seriously!!! It is hard though sometimes, I always wanted to get out and GOGOGO on our days off, and he wants to sleep in until noon. Haha.
So true! Sundays are ours...except Easter & Mother's Day... ;o)
My Chef is only off on Mondays at this point. We have a standing dinner date on Monday nights and I spend the whole week searching for restaurants that are A. open on Mondays and B. that have a full bar! She's tired of wine wine wine by the time Monday rolls around (her place is beer and wine only)
