Truth Is...

My friend Kerilyn over at Married to a Chef has asked several women to share their thoughts on the marriage-chef-children system. Take a look at what I've written.

And don't forget, Kerilyn is having a get-together in NYC this weekend for anyone who is interested in making a connection.

Food is Love,
Hilary

Hi Hilary,

I really enjoyed reading your input on the married to a chef blog. As a mother of 2 young kids with a chef/owner husband, I've often felt many of the same things that I think many others have been dealing with. It has taken us a few years now to start to work things through and we have realized that it is going to take a tremendous amount of work and compromise from both of us to really make this work. I find it tremendously helpful to read that others struggled with many of the same issues. I often felt like I was a failure for not getting to a harmonious place from the get go. So, Thank you!

I'm so glad I read that. Thank you. I hope that one day my husband and I can be on the same page and openly communicate about the things we need. I have a 20-month old and this is the most difficult thing I've ever done. I also tend to give him a hard time about his schedule. Thank you for reminding me that it's not his fault and this is what comes with the territory. It's so funny because I knew way before I married him that we would struggle with this - you would think I'd be okay since I saw it coming! I wish I could handle it better and be more understanding...
